Why should I take my Mandatory Update this Fall?
As most of you know, the standard Offer to Purchase and Contract form designed for use in residential sales transactions has been REVISED. The anticipated effective date is January 1, 2011. Take your Real Estate Mandatory Update EARLY to learn about the significant changes and the use of the "due diligence period" concept that has been in commercial sales contracts; GONE are Alternatives One and Two.
The HUD-1 and Good Faith Estimate have also been revised effective January 1, 2010. You will gain a better understanding for the underlying reason for these changes and what a broker's responsibilities are as to the proper completion of both forms.
The six sections of the Mandatory Update include: (1) Revised Offer to Purchase & Contract, (2) Contract Practical Exercise, (3) The New Good Faith Estimate and HUD-1 Forms, (4) Licensing and Education Review, (5) North Carolina Real Estate Agent Safety, and (6) Commission Rule Changes.
We are also offering several Hot Topic Electives including: (1) Understanding the New HUD-1 & GFE, (2) Foreclosures, Short Sales, REO's & Auctions, (3) Sustainable Housing & Building Green, (4) Ethics: Principles & Practices, and (5) Handling Offers Properly Today.
We also have our Brokers-in-Charge covered with the Broker-In-Charge Annual Review class offered throughout the state in the fall.
2010-2011 Broker in Charge Annual Review Course is a 4 hour course which must be completed prior to June 10, 2011 by ALL brokers-in-charge who were designated as a broker-in-charge prior to July 1, 2010 and who wish to remain a broker-in-charge as of July 1, 2011 for the 2011-2012 license period. This course will count as an elective CE credit and the BIC will not have to complete an "elective" course. HOWEVER all BIC's still must complete the annual mandatory Real Estate Update Course which all licensees must take each year as part of their 8 hrs of CE to be on active status.

A smooth and successful closing does not start on the day of settlement; it starts the day you begin working with buyers and sellers. This course discusses the steps a listing agent and buyer's agent should take from the first meeting through closing. Topics discussed include walk-through procedures, lending issues, handling of monies and proper closing techniques. As a result of this course, agents will be able to describe the steps necessary for a ''smooth closing'', apply these steps in each transaction and explain the proper course of action to their clients/customers.
