Tony Crumbley, VP of Research with the Charlotte Chamber, gives an overview of the census results for the Charlotte Metro area and provides insight on the implications.    Charlotte metro MSA is growing at a 32% rate and Indian Trail (Union County) is the 9th fastest growing city in the country!  The success of high-rise condos in uptown Charlotte could potentially fuel more population growth/density in uptown Charlotte.   If it doesn’t, Wake county may surpass Mecklenburg county in population  as the largest county in the state.   North Carolina has moved from the 11th largest state in the nation to the 10th largest by population.  Analysis from the IRS shows that 57,000 people moved to Charlotte in the last year.
