1. Septic Tanks/Wells
- As of 1/1/08, all septic tank inspections must be completed by certified tank inspectors (of which we now have 200+/- newly certified inspectors in NC).
- As of July 1, 2008 there will be new legislature (Bill #2873) concerning private wells and septic tanks creating new regulations as to the distance of these from adjacent properties. The actual distance will be determined by the local health/building departments.
2. Question #21 on NC Residential Property Disclosure Statement
- As of January 1, 2008, the NC Residential Property Disclosure Statement (pdf) added question #21.
21. PRIVATE ROAD(S) OR STREETS adjoining the property?
a. If yes, do you know of an existing owners association or maintenance agreement to maintain the road or street?
3. Ethics Course Requirement for Realtors
REALTORS need to remember that NAR requires a REALTOR to take at least a 2.5 hour ETHICS COURSE once every four years. The next four-year requirement ends on December 31, 2008. At SUPERIOR SCHOOL OF REAL ESTATE, you can take “ethics” on-line or in-class (4 hours) to complete your NAR requirement and obtain four hours of continuing education elective credit at the same time. REALTORS need to verify with their local ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS if they have or have not taken their ethics class. Only REALTORS need to fulfill this NAR requirement!
