Bedbugs have received national attention in the last few years and infestations have been on the rise.  According to WikiPedia, in the developed world bedbugs were largely eradicated as pests in the early 1940s, however they have increased in prevalence since about 1995.[5] Because infestation of human habitats has been on the increase, bedbug bites and related conditions have been on the rise as well.[6][7] The exact causes of this resurgence remain unclear; it is variously ascribed to greater foreign travel, more frequent exchange of second-hand furnishings among homes, a greater focus on control of other pests resulting in neglect of bedbug countermeasures, and increasing resistance to pesticides.[7][8] Bedbugs have been known human parasites for thousands of years.[6]

The Pest Control Authority is offering a free bed bug seminar with nationally recognized experts on Thursday, February 10, 2011 in Charlotte, NC.  Please view the following PDF for more information:  bedbug symposium. According to the flyer, continuing education credits are available towards all BOMI Professional manager designations.
