FAQs
To get your NC real estate license, you must be at least 18 years old, hold a high school diploma or equivalent, and complete the 75-hour Broker Pre-Licensing Course through an NCREC-approved provider. After completing the course, you submit your application to the NCREC, pass the state licensing exam with at least 75% on both the national and state sections, and affiliate with a Broker-in-Charge to activate your Provisional Broker license.
A Provisional Broker is the entry-level real estate license issued by the NCREC after you pass the state licensing exam. As a Provisional Broker, you can legally represent buyers and sellers, but you must work under the supervision of a Broker-in-Charge until you complete your required post-licensing education. Once all post-licensing courses are finished, the Provisional designation is removed and your license becomes a full Broker license.
The NC real estate licensing exam is administered by PSI Exams and takes 4.5 hours in total. It is split into two sections: an 80-question national section with a 2.5-hour time limit and a 40-question state section with a 2-hour time limit. You must score at least 75% on both sections to pass.
Yes. Superior School of Real Estate offers the full 75-hour NC Broker Pre-Licensing Course as a self-paced online program. The online course is NCREC-approved, covers the same curriculum as in-person and livestream formats, and gives you 24/7 access so you can study on your own schedule.
Superior School offers a range of exam prep tools depending on the package you choose, including practice exams, audio review of national exam topics, instructor Q&A, a Livestream Crammer Session, and Exam Prep Powered by CompuCram. Higher-tier packages include more prep resources to help increase your pass rate on the first attempt.
